<brson> ugh. I'm not going to try to fix the bsd bots. I don't understand how this works
<pcwalton> :( we need graydon
<strcat> graydon.clone()
<benh> strcat: I tried saying let graydon2 = graydon; let graydon3 = graydon; etc a bunch but it turns out that only moved him. He wasn't actually more productive afterwards, just really mad. -

<sully> graydon: I saw a talk at the popl Off the Beaten Track side conference advocating APL
<graydon> so
<graydon> when I learned to program I worked in a bookstore
<graydon> this is probably why I have this weird pluralistic vibe about it
<graydon> I had all these books, each about some different language, so I leafed through a lot of them
<graydon> lots of fun
<graydon> the customers had ... quirks though
<graydon> one group in partiulcar
<graydon> just came in, stood there and read the books in the corner, for hours, while I sort of randomly waited for them to leave. hours and hours. I would sometimes have to kick them out.
<graydon> I eventually decided this was a pattern, and went and checked, and they were reading these books on ... APL
<graydon> I have not had occasion to modify my impression of APL since then, despite meeting more APL hackers..
<graydon> I'm sure it _means_ well, but it's like a weird little religious vortex of numerical-computing extremism and functional-programming extremism. with, I guess, the characteristic vibe of typography nerds sprinkled on top.
